EthnoMed is a joint project of the University of Washington Health Sciences Library and Harborview Medical Center's Community House Calls Program. The EthnoMed development team currently consists of Carey Jackson, MD, and Ellen Howard, MSL and the staff at the Refugee and Immigrant Health Promotion Program (Christine Wilson Owens, Ann Marchand, Stacey Bryant) with support from the UW Health Sciences Library (Ed Roberts, Sandy Tao).  Team members work with others at the UW and in the community who serve as writers, community contacts, and reviewers.

The objective of EthnoMed is to make information about culture, language, health, illness and community resources directly accessible to health care providers who are seeing patients from different refugee groups. Ethnic community profiles have been developed with, and reviewed by, members of our local ethnic organizations. We welcome comments and suggestions from members of these ethnic groups around the world. As providers learn from their patients about traditional treatments, cultural perspectives or resources, we urge them to share this information with us.
